This is the fifth part of the series describing air raid shelters from WW II. Here we want to
present the results of the inventory of one of the most fascinating underground structures in
Inowrocław which was carried out in November 2006.

On February 23-25 this year members and fans of Bastion Society from all over Poland met in
Ołobok town in lubuskie province. Together they were to take up some revitalization works in one of
the parts of OWB (Oder - Watre Bogen). Pz.W.657 - which is currently discussed - is one of the four
buildings which has become Bastion's tenancy...

At the end of last year Kujawy Branch of "Bastion" Society enriched its collection with remarkably
valuable document concerning history of Inowrocław. It is a monochrome German documentary showing
Luftwaffe fights over Poland in September 1939. It contains pieces showing air raid of German
bombers over Inowrocław at the beginning of September 1939.

On 23rd and 24th March Inowrocław's Budowlanka school (technical and vocational building school)
organised so called "Open Days". Lower secondary school pupils, who will start their high schools
this year, had a chance to see the school s premises, learn about its achievements, and meet the
students and the teachers. Most of the guests were interested in school's new subjects as well as
in a small presentation of "Bastion" Society. The person who talked about "Bastion", its goals and
actions was Jakub Zimny - this year's school graduate who is at the same time Society's friend and
fortifications fan. Next "Open Days" will be organised on 20th and 21st April this year.

Cable-railway of Janikowo Sodium Plant "Janikosoda S.A." is presently one of the last, if
not the last at all, goods cable-railway in Poland. Feel welcome to read an article dealing with
this subject. Our local cable-railway is undoubtedly the only industrial monument of that kind
found in Kujawy region and Poland generally.

We would like to invite you to our PHOTO GALLERY which has been updated and enriched with about
1200 new photos. It is the biggest updating in the nearly two years of our site s existence. You
will be able to find there more than half a thousand postcards (mostly coming from Romuald
Szymański's collection) showing old Inowrocław and twice as many photos connected with Bastion's

On 11-13 May Czocha Castle hosted Second Scientific Conference organized by "Odkrywca" magazine.
The conference was titled "Czocha Castle - Stronghold of Mysteries". We want to present photo
reportage of the event in "GALERIA-FOTO" section which gives details of the conference as well as
concentrates on Lubiąż Convent and two of many castles located in Lower Silesia region like
Prochowice Castle and Wołów Castle.

You are welcome to read the story and reportage of Bastion's member who, at the beginning of May,
represented the Society during historical reconstruction in Modlin Stronghold titled "The Storm of
Berlin".

Recently "Bastion" Society has enriched its collection with unique WWII photography. It shows a
group of Wehrmacht soldiers during the halt in Inowrocław's square. The photo is exceptional as
it presents some buildings of western part of the square which do not exist today. Thorough
examination of the photograph allowed identifying German formation and establishing its military
status. The photo, taken in 1940, shows 2nd Company of Motorcycled Shooters included in the 6th
Wehrmacht Panzer Division.
